Legionella Management Advisory Group

The Legionella Management Advisory Group comprises experts in various fields who collaborate to tackle concerns and provide recommendations for reducing occurrences of Legionella outbreaks.

This assembly of professionals was established subsequent to the inaugural National Legionella Conference, which took place on the Gold Coast in November 2016.

Master Plumbers’ Association of Queensland (MPAQ)

The Master Plumbers' Association of Queensland (MPAQ) functions as the primary representative organisation for plumbing contractors across Queensland, encompassing a wide range from individual operators to medium-sized plumbing enterprises and large contracting corporations.

National Construction Code (NCC)

The National Construction Code stands as Australia's central compilation of technical guidelines and construction stipulations for buildings. Operating as a performance-oriented code, it establishes the essential baseline for ensuring the safety, well-being, comfort, accessibility, and eco-friendliness of specific structures. Produced and upheld by the Australian Building Codes Board in conjunction with the Australian Government and individual State/Territory administrations, the National Construction Code plays a crucial role in this capacity.

Plumbing and Drainage Regulation 2019

Ensures that all plumbing and drainage activities strictly conform to the established regulatory standards and guidelines, thus providing a reliable framework for maintaining the safety, functionality, and environmental integrity of plumbing and drainage systems.

The Backflow Prevention Association of Australia Inc. (BPAA)

The Backflow Prevention Association of Australia Inc. (BPAA) stands as a dedicated professional entity focused solely on Backflow Prevention. Comprising volunteers from various sectors within the plumbing and water supply field, our organization encompasses a wide spectrum of members, including local authorities, manufacturers, plumbing contractors, educational institutions, and training providers.

Department of Housing and Public Works

The Department of Energy and Public Works in Queensland offers a comprehensive range of services to residents, covering aspects such as building policy, asset management, energy management, hydrogen energy initiatives, and procurement on behalf of the Queensland Government. Our responsibilities extend to being the constructor and overseer of various essential facilities, including schools, hospitals, ambulance stations, police stations, fire stations, and additional public infrastructure.

Services Trades Council (STC)

Formed in accordance with the Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018, the Service Trades Council is established with the purpose of advocating for the service trades and ensuring the safeguarding of public health, safety, and environmental concerns.

Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA)

Encompasses technical specifications governing the design and construction of plumbing and drainage systems in both new and pre-existing structures across all categories, regardless of whether plumbing tasks are being conducted. These regulations also extend to locations where water services are established separately from any buildings.

Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC)

The QBCC operates as a statutory entity within the purview of the Minister for Energy and Public Works. Created in accordance with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission Act 1991 (QBCC Act), its role is to oversee and govern the building sector.

Australian Building Codes Board (ABCB)

The ABCB functions as a body that creates standards, tasked with overseeing the National Construction Code, WaterMark and CodeMark Certification Schemes, as well as driving regulatory enhancements within the construction sector. This collaborative effort involves the participation of both the Commonwealth and State/Territory Governments, alongside contributions from the building and plumbing industries.

Plumbing and Drainage Act 2018

The legislation pertaining to plumbing and drainage, as well as the certification of plumbers and drainers, is designed primarily to oversee the execution of plumbing or drainage tasks with the aim of minimising potential hazards to public well-being and the natural surroundings.

Queensland Plumbing and Wastewater Code

Incorporates criteria for areas that fall outside the scope of the PCA. On occasion, it enforces more stringent benchmarks beyond the PCA stipulations or substitutes certain PCA requirements.
